Making Sense is a loose and expanding collective of artists and scholars who have gathered to create a vital, international forum that crosses between modes of thinking and doing.  ’Making sense,’ as we conceive it, denotes an act of reflection that engages both the senses and the intellect, becomes accessible, and embraces a range of different perspectives and practices in the contemporary context. Following our inaugural event in Cambridge in 2009, we not only propose to organise non-hierarchical, transdisciplinary meetings on an annual basis, but to forge a community that, over time, shares a common language, builds on a dynamic thought process, and integrates diverse disciplines.  Joining the practices of creation and reflection, this project aims at bridging the often notable gap between theory and practice.

Making Sense regroupe des artistes et penseurs de tous bords qui se donnent pour objectif d’ouvrir des voies de recherche et de dialogue entre les modes de faire et de penser. Tel que nous l’entendons, Making sense (« faire sens ») se pose comme un acte de réflexion qui engage autant les sens que la raison et qui embrasse des pratiques variées, inscrites dans le contexte contemporain. À l’instar du colloque inaugural qui s’est tenu à Cambridge en 2009, nous nous proposons non seulement d’organiser des rencontres internationales ouvertes et transdisciplinaires, mais aussi de faire émerger une dynamique de groupe autour d’un langage plastique et esthétique commun. Réunissant différentes disciplines de création et de réflexion, ce projet vise à dépasser le clivage souvent trop prononcé entre théorie et pratique.
