Conference organised by VivAgora, in partnership with Fing
May 27th 2011 – 9h-19h
Assemblée Nationale – Room Victor Hugo
101 rue de l’Université – 75007 Paris

Why this conference?

From hospital to defense, in transportation, friendship and money, we use everyday electronic and digital devices. Using terms like « surrounding electronic » or « diffuse computer science », seeing in it the advent of an « surrounding intelligence » or a « crawling gadget-making », the trivialization of those objects doesn’t come without any consequence. What are the eclogical and human impacts of our consumption of electronic devices? Does the digital innovation really need a system based on a scheduled obsolescence? What are the risks brought by a general surveillance for our liberties and fundamental rights? Which mastery has the citizen on digital tools? At a time when the economy of the innovation bets on electronic, this conference organized by VivAgora, tackles the sense of it: is it liberation or alienation?

In 2011, the « Parlement du Futur », organized in partnership with Fing, aims the field of surrounding electronic, with an ambition to explore the ways and means to synchronize the electronic innovation with the aspiration of a responsible society that stays ecological and democratic.
