Objectives

CiviLuanti aims to implicate youth populations in sustainable urban projects through the open source game generator Luanti. The project hopes to foster active citizenship while valorising the diversity of European territories. It will 1) train youth and educators to become agents of digital urban deliberation 2) inspire new forms of youth-centered civic participation 3) create more open and ecological game environments 4) federate Luanti communities around a clear and tested social agenda.

Activities

CiviLuanti will develop digital services that integrate questions of ecological maintenance into gaming environments; generate a set of games that reflects the constraints of diverse territories; and plan and execute urban deliberative workshops – all of which will be documented through guides, audio-visual content, and papers. The project associates beneficiaries to each activity, making them co-designers of digital tools and practices, for a new form of action based digital education.

Impact

CiviLuanti delivers a set of digital services that, through guides and demonstrators, can be adopted/adapted widely, and a network of facilitators and educators that will pursue urban deliberative processes. In the long-term, CiviLuanti forms an alternative model to techno-solutionism by situating both urban and digital development locally, supported by a new young workforce equipped to engage critically with our digitised world: the condition for a digitally sovereign Europe.
