The world of Culture and of popular Education are sharing mutual ambitions. For a couple of years, Centre Pompidou and INJEP are working together to develop a specific one: the teaching ambition. This joint effort has been formalized by conventioned partnerships. The last one has been signed in march 2009.

At Centre Pompidou, the Teaching Action  management is leading this work through teaching actions that enables you to cross the artistic barriers and bring to youth a knowledge complement and in the same time a capacity to place oneself in the today’s world. INJEP is a benchmark expert in the Youth and Popular education domain, it has engaged a reflexion on the artistic and cultural practices of the Youth today as an issue for society by insertion but as well artistic by the expression forms’ renewal.

The steering comitee made up to construct the seminar is representing the diversity of conceptions: the youth and culture deparments, the national federation of territorial collectivities for Culture, the Culture et Départements organization, ARDEVA Île-de-France which is bringing together the Culture managers of the popular education Fédérations, ARIAM Île-de-France, IRI (Institute in Research and Innovation) and the Centre Pompidou Bibliothèque publique d’information (Public Library of Information).

The principal issue of this seminar is to set up how the present creation can link between them different cultural actors on the same land and participate to innovating projects’ elaboration. In this perspective, the point is to question the professional practices of each, to support shares between networks, question the mediation profession, and finally, to stimulate the cultural actors in innovation in a cooperating way on the Ile-de-France territory.

SEMINAR DEVELOPMENT
This seminar has first taken place at Centre Pompidou during 5 days of 2009. A limited number of local Culture managers (elected, territorial officiers and associatives, popular education networks’ coordinators, cultural structures managers, Contemporary Art centers’ managers…) of the Ile-de-France territory have taken part in it.

Three topics as been kept and submitted to participants’ judgment.

FIRST TOPIC : INHABITANTS
What is the role of population in the territories’ cultural policies runed by the State, the local authorities, the organizations and the cultural institutions ? The reflexion is principally oriented on the  insertion of the contemporary creation’s nature in social life.

SECOND TOPIC : TERRITORIES
The Power tricks  between the different international levels can blur a common aproach of culture. What are the necessary conditions for the contemporary artistic creation to become a common issue on a given territory, especially giving strenght to its link between history and collective memory ?
